GENERAL PROCEDURES FOR THE SEASON
1. The Good Conduct policy that you have all signed will be a guideline for the volleyball team as far as eligibility is concerned.
2. You are expected to maintain your grades and handle your studies in a first class manner. You are in school first to get a good education.
3. Treat your teachers, classmates, teammates, and coaches as you would like to be treated, with concern and respect. Character counts!
4. Physicals MUST be turned in BEFORE you can practice or play, but you must attend practice even if your physical is not yet completed.
5. Keep the locker rooms clean. This is YOUR responsibility. We won’t take practice time to clean them. It will need to be done before or after practice.
6. Be on time or even early for practice. You are expected to be at ALL practices and games unless excused by the coaches, or if you are ill and not in school that day. You MUST personally talk to the coaches. Do not send a message with anyone else. That will result in an unexcused absence and could affect playing time. Make all your appointments for times that will not conflict with practices and games.
7. Keep opinions to yourself unless you are willing to express them to the coaches. You won’t always agree with us, but we are willing to listen. Positive attitudes make positive things happen.
8. Accept criticism as a way for bettering yourself and your team.
9. PRACTICE CLOTHES – Kneepads, vb shoes, t-shirts, and shorts. Be sure your shorts and t-shirts have appropriate coverage. Jewelry – Jewelry is illegal except for religious or medical purposes. String, rubber bracelets (i.e. Live Strong) and piercing plugs are considered jewelry. It is not legal to cover jewelry with tape. This is by state association rules.
10. HOME GAMES – Be on the floor, dressed, and ready to go by 5:30. Varsity, be in the gym by 5:45. It is a good idea for FS/JV players to stay for the varsity matches. You will learn by watching your teammates and other teams, and you will be asked to assist with statistics and filming. AWAY GAMES – All team members are required to ride the bus to the games. If you are riding home with someone else, you must give a written note from your parent/guardian to the coaches.
11. Dress appropriately when not in uniform at the games. You are representing your school and your team. Be sure to change into street clothes following your match.
12. When taken out of a game, cone to the bench and sit beside the coaches.
13. Be sure cell phones are turned off during practice and games, and on the way to games. They are permissible for the ride home.
